The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is a remarkable golf course construction project that holds the distinction of being the largest ever attempted. The brainchild of Dr. David Bronner, the CEO of the Retirement Systems of Alabama in the late 1980s, this project serves two important purposes: diversifying the assets of the state's pension fund effectively and contributing to the growth and development of Alabama.

Bronner's philosophy behind this endeavor is simple yet powerful—he believed that strengthening Alabama would in turn strengthen the Retirement Systems. Taking inspiration from the famous movie "Field of Dreams," Bronner decided to "build it and they will come," not in reference to a baseball diamond in a cornfield, but to a magnificent collection of public golf courses across Alabama.
